Run the Pineland Farms Trail Challenge and Win a Cowbell

image:

I learned about an interesting event this morning - The Pineland Farms Trail Challenge. If you finish, you win a cowbell. Seriously.

The event, which takes at Pineland Farms in New Gloucester, Maine on May 24, includes four different races: a 50 mile, a 50 kilometer, a 25 kilometer, and (for sane people) a 4 kilometer. If you finish the 50 miler, you get a gold cowbell. A 50 kilometer finish only gets you a silver cowbell, but I would say that's pretty special too.

The name of the event pretty much sums it up - it covers trails, and it is challenging. The 25 kilometer loop follows well-maintained trails through forests and farmland, and from the hill profile shown on the website, the term "rolling countryside" is likely an understatement.

If you have not already signed up to run, it's a little late. Although when I last checked, there were nine spots left in the 25K. It is not, however, too late to volunteer. They have set up a handy site for you to choose a task and sign up, so you will know what to expect when you arrive.

These runners will need a lot of support, so come out and cheer them on, enjoy the scenery, and hopefully get inspired to do it next year!
