Baldacci's Budget Winning over Maine Conservatives

Dealing with a budget gap of $569 million, Maine's Governor John Baldacci has proposed reducing the state's spending plans to match projected revenues instead of increasing revenues to match its spending plans. The Democratic Governor's proposal has won over some unlikely supporters from the Maine Heritage Policy Center (MHPC), a center-right think tank based in Portland.
