The folks at Alka-Seltzer, owned by Bayer, mocked Mainers in a 2008 advertising campaign called "Speedy Road Trip." The ad series featured video clips from stops along a "road trip" across America.
In their video satire of the Pine Tree State, two actors on Alka-Seltzer's dime wanted to be your "Maine Man," which in this case meant either being a fisherman or a lumberjack.
Should Mainers appreciate that our state was included? Do you think this video was even funny?

The two did this song are basically internet celebrities that rely on their videos and songs for income.
They have a very popular page at Youtube even.
They do not mean to say anything negative about Maine, just provide a funny yet informative view on it.
Considering this as stereotyping is just silly.

Nice beat, creative lyrics - who knew the state gem? Maine Man is just a fun play on out dated stereotypes. It's akin to a Saturday Night Live spoof - more of a compliment than an offense.
Use it this tourist season to sell all kinds of things - including Alka Seltzer at the register.
Take advantage of the video - play it in your lobster hut for the tourists. They'll love the humor you provide with the fabulous lobster plate special and beer.
