City of Portland Should Not Give Tax Breaks to the Press Herald

As the only news organization in Maine that takes a principled stand against corporate welfare, we must speak out and oppose all attempts by MaineToday Media Inc., the new owner of the Portland Press Herald, to receive tax breaks from the city of Portland.
City officials have met with Bob Baldacci, the brother of Maine's Governor and Rory Connor, son of Publisher Richard Connor, to discuss how the company might snag tax increment financing or other subsidies from the city. MaineToday Media Inc. recently sold the Press Herald's....
