Managing Editor
Reports to: Editor-in Chief
Location: Portland, Maine
Job Summary:
The Managing Editor shall, in consultation with the Editor-in Chief, coordinate the day to day decisions regarding the editorial content, manage the editorial staff, and implement and administer the editorial budget. The Managing Editor will work with the Editorial Board on staffing decisions and launching new editorial initiatives and features. The Managing Editor will also be a key liaison between the Editorial, Technology, Sales, Marketing and Finance to ensure all projects are executed within the greater editorial vision in an efficient and timely manner.
Ideal Candidate:
-Passion for Online News
-College degree or Professional Experience in Journalism
-Management experience
-At least two years in the interactive news space
-Excellent editing and project management skills
-Ability to establish priorities, parameters and a strong track record of delivering on deadline
-Ability to work well in team environment
-Ability to significantly grow and manage a rapidly expanding organization
-Ability to juggle many projects and maintain a cool head under pressure
-Trustworthy, thoughtful leader with experience and skill communicating and listening

Life Editor
Reports to: Editor-in Chief
Location: Portland, Maine
Job Summary:
The Life Editor shall, in consultation with the Editor-in Chief and other section editors, coordinate the day to day decisions regarding the Life section of The Exception Magazine. The Life Editor will work with the Editorial Board on staffing decisions and launching new editorial initiatives and features. The Life Editor will also contribute original articles and administer the Life section budget.
Ideal Candidate:
-Passion for Online News and lifestyle reporting
-Vision and desire to create the best lifestyle platform on the web
-At least two years in the interactive news space
-Excellent editing and project management skills
-Ability to establish priorities, parameters and a strong track record of delivering on deadline
-Ability to work well in team environment and manage others
-Ability to significantly grow and manage a rapidly expanding organization
-Ability to juggle many projects and maintain a cool head under pressure

Editorial Interns
Reports to: Editor-in Chief
Location: Portland, Maine. Any Maine college student will be considered as many assignments can be completed remotely.
Job Summary:
Exception Interns shall, in consultation with the Editor-in Chief and other section editors, coordinate the day to day administration of the Exception Magazine. Depending on the interest of each intern, assignments may include helping edit new stories, finding new contributors and developing online partnerships. Interns will work closely with the Editors of their assigned section.

-Passion for learning
-Excellent editing skills
-Ability to establish priorities, parameters and a strong track record of delivering on deadline
-Ability to work well in team environment
-We can make arrangements for college credit, if applicable
