Acceptance for Publication
Submissions are published at our discretion. The Exception Magazine editors will review all contributions and accept, return to the author for revision, or reject the article. All essay submissions accepted for publication by us will be acknowledged in writing to the original author via e-mail prior to publication. While every effort will be made to coordinate the editing process with an article’s author, we reserve the right to edit submissions for length, style and clarity prior to publication.
Attribution
The author must include his or her legal name and as appropriate, their affiliated organizations for published credit with their submissions. We will include an author’s contact information only upon request. Fact-Checking
Writers submitting work to The Exception Magazine are accountable in the first instance for their own accuracy and may, in some cases, be solely responsible for fact-checking. Writers are responsible for verification of all facts prior to filing their story with The Exception Magazine, unless deadlines prevent completion of the fact-checking by the article's due date. In these cases, authors are responsible for identifying for The Exception Magazine’s editorial staff that fact-checking is required prior to publication.
Truth and Accuracy
We strive to be accurate and establish the truth of what has happened. We will be honest and open about what we do not know and avoid unfounded speculation. Authors that have been found to knowingly lie in their reports shall be banned from submitting content to us for a time determined by The Exception Magazine’s editors.
Revisions
All contributions are subject to editing for space, clarity and conformity with The Exception Magazine’s style. The editors reserve the right, when necessary, to request manuscript revisions from the original author or to incorporate revisions directly. Editors will send edited articles to the author for review before publication. If an author is unable to respond by the identified deadline, The Exception Magazine reserves the right to be able to move forward with publication of the edited article.

The Exception Magazine recognizes an ethical responsibility to correct all factual errors, large or small, brought to its attention. If a correction is warranted, we will make every effort to make updates or publish a correction as a short post immediately in the section where the error was first published.
