One Liners Leave ‘Em Laughing
One-liners make a long story short and usually leave ’em laughing. A quick joke or a definitive single line from movies or from politicians seems to stick in our minds longer than just about anything else.
Winston Churchill may have been the one-liner king of all times. When accused by a British socialite of being a drunk, he replied: “Yes, but when I wake up tomorrow, I’ll be sober and you will still be ugly.” On another occasion, he was reprimanded for ending a sentence with a preposition. His response: “This is criticism up with which I will not put.”
Groucho Marx came up with a spontaneous dilly in a nig....
