Maine's Bishop Malone: "Same-Sex Marriage is a Dangerous Sociological Experiment"

Bishop Richard Malone, leader of Maine's 200,000 Roman Catholics, has released a statement regarding the legalization of same-sex marriage in Maine.

"I am deeply disappointed in the Maine Legislature and the Governor for making same sex-marriage legal in our state. We believe that the vast majority of Maine's people believe that marriage is the union of one man and one woman, and that calling same-sex relationships marriage doesn't make them so. Marriage as we have known it for millennia has served as the cornerstone of society. The family, consisting of mother, father and children, has served throughout the ages as the natural place for the healthy development of children into well adjusted and productive citizens. Same-sex marriage is a dangerous sociological experiment that I believe will have negative consequences for society as a whole. Children will be taught in schools that same-sex marriage and traditional marriage are simply different expressions of the same thing, and that the logical and consistent understanding that marriage and reproduction are intrinsically linked is no longer valid. These are profound changes that will reverberate throughout society with tragic consequences."

The Catholic Diocese in Maine previously declared that it will work closely with a number of partners in bringing this issue to the voters this November.

"Although the details are still being worked out at this time, we can say with certainty that the Portland Diocese will play a lead role in organizing this petition drive to bring the issue before voters," said Marc Mutty of the diocese, who has been working closely in the legislature on this bill. He went on to say that he expected a number of prominent national organizations dedicated to preserving marriage to assist Maine in its efforts to restore traditional marriage to its rightful place.

You're forgetting...

I read with interest your article.

You're forgetting that homosexuals, lesbians and bi-sexuals and others are the products of your so-called " Marriage as we have known it for millennia has served as the cornerstone of society." between a man and a woman! Our parents give birth to us. Their parents gave birth to them.

So why condemn a product that which is a product of your own making. Because of your desires, your own lust, your pride, your ego, your own lasciviousness, your promiscuities, your licentiousness, your own debauchery, your evil motive, your greed for possession of the opposite, you've created these people in the very first.

Then why blame them for doing the things you do?

You said that "The family, consisting of mother, father and children,..." May I ask you, when you made the reference to children, are you aware of their sexual preference when they were children and when they grow into adulthoods; both the male and female? Are these so-called "children" homosexuals or lesbians or bisexuals or heterosexuals?

No one can control how soceity lives or behaves. Not the Church or the governement or anyone can control it. Can you control the natural disasters about to happen? If it happens, it happens. And its the natural course of event. And if you can avert it, you can only avert it one time. How many can you go around averting, preventing and destroying disasters.

In the same vein, soceity behaves the way it behaves. You can't change it. You can do this and do that, there would still be homosexuals, lesbians, bisexuals and heterosexuals in this world. Unless you're going to kill them all off and be left with only the heterosexuals. And I dont think the heterosexuals-only world would be any better off than whats currently going on in the world today.

Either you live with it or get rid of it. You think you better get used to the idea of living amongst the homosexuals, lesbians and bisexuals. For this world can't be without them either.

Thanks you for giving me this chance to comment.

No, I think it is you that is forgetting....

that children are not born homosexual. Homosexuality is an influence of society. There is no "gay gene".

Tell a lie often enough and some will believe it as truth.
