Chefs Predict 27 Big Trends for 2017

Millennials are taking over the kitchens across America and redefining how we dine with their growing purchasing power.

And it seems like the hipster lifestyle in particular is leading the charge.  Foodie trends originating in places like Portland, Brooklyn and Austin are becoming mainstream. Therefore, get ready for the locavore trend to hit your local fast food joint in 2017, according to a survey of chefs by the the National Restaurant Association.

“Menu trends today are beginning to shift from ingredient-based items to concept-based ideas,” said Hudson Riehle, Senior Vice President of Research for the National Restaurant Association. [This is] “mirroring how consumers tend to adapt their activities to their overall lifestyle philosophies, such as environmental sustainability and nutrition.”
