The American Indian Wars lasted from the early 17th century until the start of the 20th century. As American settlers branched out from the east coast to the Great American Plains and beyond, native people were pushed from their homes at every turn.
Eventually the US Army crushed every tribe and forced the remaining Indians to live on tiny reservations. Some Indians Chiefs tried to negotiate while others fought until the death.
These brave Indian leaders may have lost it all in one of the most tragic events in human history. But at least they didn’t go down without a fight!
