Here’s Wilt Chamberlain after setting the NBA record with 100 points in a single game.
Wilt’s 100 points were for the Philadelphia Warriors in a 169–147 win over the New York Knicks on March 2, 1962, at Hershey Sports Arena in Hershey, Pennsylvania.
“It wouldn’t even have been close to possible without them,” Chamberlain said of his teammates after the game. “They wanted me to get it as much I did.”
The game was not televised and there is no video footage. In fact, it didn’t seem like the night was destined to be historic considering only 4,124 spectators paid to see the game.
This photo is one of the only remaining hard proofs of the feat. No player has scored 100 since.
