Malvern, Arkansas is one of our favorite towns for food. Piquant aromas await every turn in this area.
The chow pundits may not grasp life here in Malvern, Arkansas despite the fact that Bill Clinton hails from around here. Frankly that is their situation though. Just the same, impressing witless food snobs from Tulsa and Dallas is not a prerogative. The old Arkies grasp what is simply incomparable.
The brasseries and bistros may not get the national media exposure here. But in exchange, Arkansans can get larger portions at half the price of brasseries and bistros in Atlanta. The loyal chefs here have all you could laud in a meal, including cheeses, grapes, rice or wheat from family farms around Crawford and Lawrence counties.
The erratic chefs de cuisine here will “eat their own dogfood,” so you know it has to be terrific. Any place would be jealous of the cafeterias and supper clubs in Malvern, Arkansas.
True Arkies might see the wisdom in splitting their weeks in half. Four days are for salads and exercise and the remaining three are for three considerable helpings of apple pies, casseroles and hot dogs, all washed down with soda or beer. You may call it gluttony but we call it balance. Call the Restaurant Association of Arkansas or whichever industry trade provides the prizes nowadays! These munch holes are the ideal in the South.
